Leaders Protecting Forests to Meet Global Biodiversity and Climate Goals

Cali, 28 October 2024 – Ministers from nine countries delivered a clear message at CBD COP16 in Colombia: increasing the range of financial mechanisms to support countries, developing a broader range of financial instruments, and scaling the volume of finance available must happen in parallel in order to halt and reverse deforestation and land degradation by 2030. The FCLP, launched at the inaugural Forest and Climate Leaders’ Summit at COP27, is a voluntary partnership of 32 countries and the European Union committed to delivery, accountability and innovation following the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use, which was endorsed by more than 140 world leaders at COP26.
